The Stockholm Fashion Week is coordinated by the Swedish Fashion Council, but is the collective effort of countless talented individuals and fashion companies in a variety of forums. Sthlm Fashion Week by Berns is a central hub of activity, and a large majority of the fashion shows take place at Berns Salonger in downtown Stockholm. This year, for the first time, Acne and Filippa K joined the dozens of small and medium-sized fashion brands in presenting their collections for autumn/winter 2008 at Berns.Since its inception in 2006, +46 has emerged as an alternative trade fair and a unique and ever-evolving platform for progressive Scandinavian fashion. The trade fair is housed in a renovated gallery space close to the center of Stockholm and features more than 60 brands, art exhibitions and fashion shows. +46 Awards is a high-profile competition which highlights one emerging Scandinavian designer, who is chosen by an international jury of fashion industry insiders and featured in a much-publicized solo fashion show. This year's award went to Swedish designer Annika Berger. The trade fair Rookies & Players has been run by the Swedish Fashion Council since 2005. The ambition is to be a fashion arena that helps smaller brands toestablish themselves on the market through various projects, networks and trading sites in conjunction with Fashion Week. This year, the forum was complemented by new Swedish streetwear fair Boutique Fräsh.For photos and videos from the major fashion shows: www.bonmagazine.com or www.bernsfashiondays.seFor a complete schedule of events: www.moderadet.sePhoto: Sandra Backlund, Autumn/Winter 2008
