The two keynote speakers are Joseph E. Stiglitz, Nobel Laureate in Economics and Professor of Economics at Columbia University, as well as Joakim Palme, Director of the Institute for Futures Studies and Professor at the Swedish Institute for Social Research at Stockholm University.Joakim Palme examines social policy from a comparative perspective and has published analyses of the welfare state and redistribution and the public-private mix in social protection. He has further worked on social insurance and health, as well as on social policy reform and retrenchment in Sweden. From 1999 to 2001, he chaired the Welfare Commission appointed by the Swedish Government.
