Louise Hoffsten Sings the Knäckebröd Blues

In her U.S. debut release, one of Sweden's most talented vocalists interprets traditional American blues with a personal twist.

Louise Hoffsten is an extremely versatile and charismatic singer, who has received several gold and platinum awards for pop, jazz and folk releases and has also composed songs for international stars like Faith Hill.

Despite growing up worlds away from the Mississippi Delta and the streets of Chicago, Louise Hoffsten is a blues singer in the most traditional sense.  A mid-career divorce on the heels of a sudden diagnosis and subsequent battle with multiple sclerosis led her to discover the depths of her own suffering and spirituality.

She detailed her personal challenges and emotional turmoil in a book simply entitled Blues and recorded an album of her favorite blues standards as well as several of her own compositions.  Entitled Knäckebröd Blues and originally scheduled for a 2003 release in the U.S., this album will finally be made available to American audiences by Memphis International Records on April 27.
