Torgny Lindgren Published in Translation

Torgny Lindgren is one of Sweden's most revered and internationally successful authors and also a member of the Swedish Academy, which selects the honorees for the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Lindgren's latest novel, Hash (original title: Pölsan), is now being published by the Overlook Press in the United States.  This wonderfully original story of two men's unlikely quest for the ultimate hash (a Swedish peasant dish prepared from meats, offal and grain) is an ode to the wonders of life and death, to storytelling and to the very fabric of fiction.

Described as "sparkling", "sly and gleeful" by Publishers Weekly, the book is widely hailed as a modern masterpiece and has been translated into 20 languages.

The reviewer for Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet claims to "rarely have ... read a novel with such a powerful opening as this one.  And the remarkable thing is that the novel never loses momentum after this, but gets better and better, more and more tight in its composition, more and more vivid in its portrayal of characters."
