The Civil Society Urban Development Programme launched

The Swedish Ambassador to Kenya H.E Ann Dismorr participated in the launch of the Civil Society Urban Development Programme (CSUDP) on Thursday 9 September at Safari park Hotel in Nairobi.

The CSUDP is designed to contribute towards achievement of Vision 2030 through the Swedish Strategy for Cooperation with Kenya (2009-2013), which embraces Urban Development as a priority sector. The programme will support the Civil Society to play its critical role in the urban sector in line with Kenya’s new constitutional dispensation.

CSUDP seeks to play an important role of promoting urban dialogue between actors of civil society, line ministries, local authorities, private sector and the media. The initiative is guided by the human rights-based approach, which shifts the focus from only seeing the needs of people and groups living in poverty to recognise their equal rights to access resources necessary for their well-being and social inclusion.
