EXHIBIT: The Image of Strindberg
Available between September 22 – December 2, 2012 in House of Sweden. "I do not believe anyone will tire of me as I am very versatile" - August Strindberg, 1875. There are many different images of dramatist and author August Strindberg (1849-1912), images of the genius, the madman, the jealous man, the woman hater, the anarchist, the vain man, the vagabond and the brazen man.
Today, 100 years after the death of Strindberg, there are many opinions about the world renowned playwright. Often the subject of discussion, he leaves no one untouched. But who was August Strindberg? What image did he present of himself? How do we remember Sweden's most famous writer and dramatist? Is there a true image? See for yourself in this photography exhibition curated by Maria Patomella.
