Changes to the Swedish passport law from 15 April 2016

The change means that:

  • Swedish citizens can be granted only three ordinary passports during a five year period.
  • As a rule ordinary passports will be recalled and cancelled when a provisional passport is issued.
  • The validity of an ordinary passport is lowered from five years to three years for children under the age of twelve.
