#naistEST: series of events dedicated to women’s rights

From 4 March to 30 April, a series of events dedicated to women’s rights, #naistEST, raises questions about the unwritten roles in society - also from the Nordic point of view. The objective of the exhibitions, film programmes and discussions is to prompt people to notice the attitudes and behaviours that prevent women from realising their rights.

Three different exhibitions will be open to guests at the Museum of Occupations from 8 March to 30 April, which showcase the history of feminism in Estonia, the Nordic countries and France from different angles. From the Nordics, “Pioneering Feminist Foreign Policy. Women in Swedish diplomacy from 1632 till today” will be exhibited. Other exhibitions include “Cherchez la Femme” from France and “Jubilee year of Estonian women´s rights movement: Marie Reisik 130”.

Documentaries from the Nordic countries and France will be screened there from 16 March to 30 April, and discussions will also be held. From the Nordics, on 30 March 6 PM, Kristina Lindström's “Astrid” (Sweden 2015) on the life of beloved Swedish children's writer Astrid Lindgren will be screened. 13 April 6 PM, Mette Knudsen's “The Long Road” on the women's rights movement history in Denmark is shown. The screenings are for free.

#naistEST is organised by the Museum of Occupations, the French Institute of Estonia, Feministeerium, the Nordic Council of Ministers' office in Estonia and the Estonian Institute of Human Rights.
