Applying for a visa

If you want to visit Sweden and are a citizen of a country outside the EU, you may need a visa.

To improve the service available to those applying for a visa, the Consulate
cooperates with VFS Global. You present your application in person to VFS Global, and they can also provide you with information and other kinds of service. When the decision has come through, after 15 days, you collect your passport at the VFS Global.

VFS Global charge a fee of RMB 146 per application (over and above the visa fee) for their services and visa applications can be submitted in Beijing and Shanghai. Check the VFS Global lobal website for the application centre’s address and opening hours and for other practical information.

 If you cannot or do not want to contact VFS Global, you can submit your application in person at the Consulate.

OBS: Before submitting your Schengen application, you have to dial the visa hotline in order to make an apponitment,  +86 21 5359 9639 at 15:00-16:00 weekdays. For D-visa and residence permit, there is no need for apponitment.

A decision on your application will be available after 15 days.

Where to hand in your application

Please note that applications from the Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) and applications for D-visas (national visa) shall be submitted directly to the Consulate.

Residents of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang shall apply at VFS Global in Shanghai/Hangzhou/Nanjing.

Residents of Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi and Hainan shall apply for Schengen visas at the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Guangzhou.

Residents of Hong Kong shall apply for Schengen visas at the Consulate General of Finland in Hong Kong.

Avoid other people selling services

Please note that the Consulate only cooperates with VFS Global. The Consulate has nothing to do with sellers outside the premises of the Consulate or the VFS Global office who offer services for payment.
