Midsummer Celebrations in the Bay Area
Midsummer is a Swedish tradition where friends and families gather to celebrate the traditional high-point of the summer. Midsummer is celebrated on the Friday closest to the summer solstice and people often begin the day by picking flowers and making wreaths to place on the maypole, the maypole is then raised in an open spot and traditional ring-dancing follow. This major holiday is usually celebrated in the heart of nature, as Swedes head out to the countryside to enjoy food, drinks, games and dancing.
