LITERATURE: Literary Evening with Lo Dagerman
The Consulate General of Sweden and SWEA San Francisco invite you to "Shadows We Carry: Stig & The Mystery of The Monster Mother", a literary evening with Lo Dagerman. Lo will talk about Stig Dagerman (1923-1954) – a father she never knew. Vendela Vida, a Bay Area writer and journalist, will interview Lo after her presentation. The program will be in English.
“1947. Stig is 24 years old. In Paris on a journalist assignment, but it will never get written. Instead, inspired by people he meets, Stig will feverishly pen a play: Marty’s Shadow. The play is brutal: a son tormented by his mother.” Lo talks about the book she wrote with Nancy Pick, Skuggorna vi bär (Norstedts 2017) that tells the story of Stig’s encounter with Nancy’s relative Etta Federn in Paris – a meeting that resulted in his shocking play.
