FILM: Ingmar Bergman retrospective in Montreal

Discover Swedish film history at Cinémathèque Québécoise in Montreal February 1 – December 31, 2018.

In 2018, cultural institutions around the world will honor the memory of world-famous Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman. Cinémathèque Québécoise in Montreal starts its screenings of Ingmar Bergman films the 1st of February, continuing throughout the year until December 2018.

Bergman was a film and theatre director, scriptwriter, theatre manager, dramatist and author. He made over 60 films and 170 theatrical productions. Bergman inspired the international culture scene of the 1950s by proving that film could be more than merely entertainment, but also a form of art. Ever since, he has been one of the most important artists in film and theatre across the world.
