Emergency Passports

If your passport is lost or stolen, or you need a new passport urgently for another reason, to travel within the next few days, you may apply for a temporary emergency passport.

Emergency passports have a very limited period of validity and can be applied for at any of the following consular locations:

  • Atlanta
  • Boston
  • Chicago
  • Dallas
  • Ft. Lauderdale
  • Houston
  • Las Vegas
  • Minneapolis
  • New York
  • Raleigh
  • San Diego
  • San Francisco
  • Washington DC

The fee for an emergency passport is $190.  Applicants will need to provide valid photo ID (if possible), and proof of U.S. immigration status (e.g. green card, visa, ESTA-confirmation). When applying for an emergency passport elsewhere than in New York or Washington DC, you must also bring two passport photos (US passport photo standard, in color).
