Marriage in New York City

The Consulate General of Sweden in New York does not arrange or officiate wedding ceremonies but Swedish citizens may get married at the Church of Sweden in New York or at the Office of the City Clerk.

Before getting married in New York, whether in a religious or civil ceremony, you must first obtain a marriage license from the New York City Marriage Bureau at The Office of the City Clerk.

To get married at the Church of Sweden in New York, you must be a member of the Church of Sweden.  You should contact the pastor by telephone and schedule the wedding ceremony well in advance.
