The annual Swedish Midsummer Festival once again took place in Battery Park City on the southern tip of Manhattan on June 23, 2017. Dark skies and a rainy forecast did not deter the crowds, and the number of visitors was more than 5,000.

Midsummer guests were greeted by Consul General Leif Pagrotsky and Shari C. Hyman, President of the Battery Park City Authority. Paul Dahlin and fiddlers from the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis and Barnklubben Elsa Rix provided traditional music and folk dancing. The dances were called by Ross Sutter, professional folk musician and Swedish heritage historian. The event also featured a musical performance by Oskar Stenmark Trio.

The Swedish Midsummer Festival was co-presented by the Consulate General of Sweden in New York and Battery Park City Parks and supported by Volvo Cars, Carlsberg, Brooklyn Brewery, Scandinavian Airlines, Skanska USA, Swedbank, SEB, Handelsbanken, Patricia Industries (Investor AB), Swedish Match, Eriksen Translations,
Visit Sweden, SWEA New York, World Childhood Foundation, as well as the Barbro Osher Pro Suecia Foundation
