Study Abroad Seminar with Sweden's Minister for Higher Education
On November 29, a Study Abroad Lunch Seminar took place at Columbia University's Deutsches Haus featuring Sweden's Minister for Higher Education and Research Helene Hellmark-Knutsson.
Following welcome remarks by Oliver Simons, Chair at the Department of Germanic Languages, the Minister discussed the opportunities, and realities, of studying abroad together with Kavita Sharma, Acting Dean of Columbia's Global Programs and Fellowships Office, as well as James Finucane, an American who recently returned from Sweden after completing a graduate program at Stockholm School of Economics. The event also featured a presentation by Lena Stenwall, lecturer in Swedish at the Department of Germanic Languages.
The students in attendance had a chance to learn about Sweden’s higher education system and what programs are offered, as well as learn about the costs and requirements.
The lunch seminar was presented by the Consulate General of Sweden in collaboration with Columbia University’s Department of Germanic Languages and the Swedish Language Program.
