Private sector support for water reforms
High quality water was at the center when the Swedish company Josab together with Kenya Swimming Teachers and Coaches Association launched its cooperation on 8 September 2012 in Nairobi.
Mr Björn Häggmark, Deputy Head of Mission, spoke of Sweden's extensive support to Kenyan efforts to reform the water sector in the country, giving more people access to clean water and providing sufficient water supplies for agriculture and livestock.
- Sweden supports reforms for sustainable and equitable access to water resources. Many parts of Kenya are suffering from the lack of water. Recently we have been reminded of the consequences when violence, over the competition over water, has claimed many lives, said Mr Häggmark.
- Government authorities and citizen groups are the driving force behind needed change in solving the problems that the water sector in the country is facing. However, also business plays an important role in this regard. Several Swedish companies have developed products for sustainable water treatment. Kenya and the East African region are interesting markets for Swedish industry.
Josab East Africa Ltd carries out the cooperation with Kenya Swimming Teachers and Coaches Association in partnership with Bola Associates Ltd.
