Support to improved management of state finances
On the 22nd of October an agreement was signed between Liberia and Sweden implying that Sida contributes approx. 100 million SEK for an improved management of Liberia's state finances. It is expected that it will lead to decreased corruption and in the longer run an improved service delivery to citizens.
The project contains, among other things, support for a multi-year budget process, improved control of the state's payments, as well as improved internal and external audit. There will also be resources for improved transparency of the state finances and the budget use. There is a special budget line for the civil society, and for improved accountability of the politicians and the state representatives.
