How to apply if you live in the Philippines

The quickest way is to apply online. After applying, you attend the required interview and present your documents at the Swedish Consulate-General in Manila.

To see which rules apply, which documents you require and how you go about making an application, read the other pages in the menu on the left. The difference here is that you do the interview at the Consulate-General in Manila.

Once you have applied online and subsequently received an instruction to make an appointment, you contact the Consulate-General via email: inquiry@swedconmanila.com

You can also present your application at the Consulate-General on a paper form, but that means you will have to wait longer for a decision. To make an appointment to present an application on a paper form and do the interview, you contact the Consulate-General either via email, inquiry@swedconmanila.com or by telephoning +63 (0) 2 89 61 160 or +63 (0) 2 89 61 261.

Residence permit card

If you are granted a residence permit, you will receive a residence permit card. If you need a visa to enter Sweden – which is the case for instance for citizens of the Philippines – you must arrange for the card before your departure. This means visiting the embassy in Bangkok to provide your biometric data. You do not need to make an appointment in order to provide your biometric data at the embassy in Bangkok. You may come any day, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, 08.00-12.00.

It can take up to four weeks for the residence permit card to be prepared and delivered to the embassy. Once the card has arrived there, the embassy will send it to the Consulate-General in Manila, where you can collect it. Cards can be collected from the Consulate-General on Mondays to Fridays, 09.00 – 12.00.

Fees

Read more under ‘Fees’ on the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok's homepage to learn which fees apply. If you are making an online application, you pay electronically when applying. If you apply at the Consulate-General, you have to pay the fee there. In addition, there is a dispatch charge of PHP 300. The fee, including the dispatch charge, is payable to:
