The Embassy

Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Lusaka, Zambia Sweden and Zambia share very good bilateral relations and the two countries have a fruitful and longstanding partnership. Diplomatic relations were established in 1965. Development cooperation was initiated already in the 1960s. Today, Sweden has an extensive development program in the country, focusing on improved health, increased employment opportunities and strengthened democratic accountability and rights. Trade and investment is beginning to play a bigger role in our relations. A number of Swedish companies are doing business in Zambia, in fields such as mining, energy, telecommunications, infrastructure and health.
