Arguably the world´s most prestigious prize, the Nobel Prize has been awarded since 1901 to men and women from around the world for achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and peace, in accordance with the will of Swedish scientist and inventor, Alfred Nobel.

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Nobel Committee and the ceremony takes place in Oslo.

According to tradition, the Swedish Academy will set the date for its announcement of the Nobel Prize in Literature later.

The Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in memory of Alred Nobel was instituted in 1968.
