Applying for a visa

If you want to visit Sweden or any of the countries that Sweden represents and are a citizen of a country outside the EU, you may need a visa.

Applying

The Consulate General of Sweden in Jerusalem will accept applications where Sweden is the sole or main destination. The exception to this rule is for applicants from Gaza who intend to visit Switzerland or the Netherlands. Sweden is representing Switzerland and the Netherlands in Gaza for these purposes and will be responsible for the decision-making regarding the visa applications for applicants where Switzerland or the Netherlands is the sole or main destination.

You can apply for a Schengen visa when less than three months are left until your estimated journey. To be able to get the decision in time, you should not apply less than a month before your estimated journey.

  

Applicants residing on the West Bank

If you reside in the West Bank and wish to apply for a Schengen visa to travel to Sweden,  you should contact VFS Global’s offices in Ramallah. To improve the service available to those applying for a visa, the Consulate cooperates with VFS Global. You submit your application in person to VFS Global and they can also provide you with information and other kinds of service. When the decision has come through you collect your passport and your visa at the VFS Global.

VFS Global charges a service fee per application (over and above the visa fee) for their services and visa applications can be submitted in Ramallah. Check the VFS Global website for the application centre’s address and opening.

If you cannot or do not want to contact VFS Global, you can submit your application in person to the Consulate General of Sweden in Jerusalem instead.  Plese note that you need to make an appointment.

Applicants residing in Gaza

If you reside in Jerusalem and wish to apply for a Schengen visa to travel to Sweden, you should contact the Consulate General of Sweden in Jerusalem to make an appointment. At the time of your appointment you have to hand in your application in person at the Consulate General of Sweden in Jerusalem.

Please note that the Consulate General of Sweden in Jerusalem only cooperates with VFS Global in Ramallah and Gaza. The Consulate General of Sweden in Jerusalem is aware that people and agencies in Gaza, in Jerusalem and in the West Bank are offering services. Please note that the Consulate General of Sweden in Jerusalem does not collaborate with them and they cannot influence either the processing period or the decision.

The Consulate General of Sweden in Jerusalem uses the company Aramex for deliveries of visa applications.
