Applications are sent electronically to Sweden for passport production. The finished passports are dispatched weekly to the foreign missions.
The processing time is usually 2-4 weeks. It can sometimes take a bit longer. We recommend you apply for a new passport in good time before you need it.
An alternative fast and cheap way is to renew the passport in connection with a visit to Sweden. You can contact any passport authority and the fee is currently SEK 400. You can normally get your new passport within a week.
The Consulate General in Hong Kong is open for passport collection Mondays and Tuesdays, 9-12am.
For applicants who were born abroad and have never resided in Sweden, special rules regarding nationality applies. Please check the information on the Swedish Migration Agency's website.
