Feminist Foreign Policy – A Model for Switzerland? (19/9)
An event by the foraus Regional Group Bern together with the Swedish Embassy in Bern "Feminist Foreign Policy – A Model for Switzerland?" 19. September 2017, 6:30 p.m. Grande Société Bern
Equality between women and men is a fundamental aim of Swedish foreign policy. Ensuring that women and girls can enjoy their fundamental human rights is both an obligation under international law, and a prerequisite for reaching Sweden’s broader foreign policy goals on peace, and security and sustainable development. Sweden has been the first country in the world actively promoting a feminist foreign policy. But what exactly is a Feminist Foreign Policy? What does it mean for diplomats to promote a feminist foreign policy, and would a feminist foreign policy be an option for Switzerland, or do we already have one?
foraus – Forum Aussenpolitik and the Swedish Embassy in Bern are looking forward to welcome:
Lenita Freidenvall (Keynote)
Deputy Head of the Division for Gender Equality Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, Sweden
Ambassador Magnus Hartog-Holm
Swedish Ambassador to Switzerland
Barbara Schedler Fischer
Chief of Staff in the Human Security Division at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs
A reception with light snacks offered by the Swedish Embassy will follow after the panel.
