How to apply
Applying via VFS Global
The quickest and easiest way is to apply for a visa at one of our Swedish Visa Application Centres, which are run by VFS Global. This means you do not have to visit the Swedish Embassy in person.
How you proceed is described step-by-step at the VFS Global website:

Applying on a paper form
If you cannot or do not wish to apply via the Swedish Visa Application Centre, you present your application forms and other documents in person at the Swedish Embassy. You have to make an appointment and the processing period may be longer. How to proceed:
1. Prepare the documentation
Check which documents and personal information you need. Read more under ‘Required documents’.
2. Make an appointment
To make an appointment at the Swedish embassy, you need to send an e-mail to email@example.com
Applications made at the VFS Global Visa Application Centre will normally be processed faster.
The embassy’s opening hours are: Monday-Friday, 9.00-11.00.
3. Pay the application fee
If you hand in your application at the Swedish Embassy in Beijing you should pay the application fee upon your visit to the Embassy. The Embassy only accepts card payment. Cash payment will only be accepted when card payment is not possible.
Read more under ‘Fees’.
4. Visit the embassy
Bring the completed application form and all the required documents on the appointed date. If you do not have all the documents with you, there is a risk that your application will be refused. During the visit, you may be required to answer some additional questions. When you hand in your application you will also have to provide biometric information. You can read more about biometrics under Basic facts.
All family members who apply at the same time – including children – must visit the embassy.
You can find the address of the embassy under ‘Contact’ in the menu on the left.
5. Wait for the decision
When you submit your application, you will be told when you can collect the decision and your passport. It usually takes up to 15 days.
