Applying for a residence permit to study in Sweden

If you intend to study in Sweden for more than three months and you are not an EU citizen, you will need a residence permit.

If your intended study period is shorter than three months, you do not need a residence permit, but you may need a visa instead.

Applying

The quickest and easiest way to apply for a residence permit for studies in Sweden is to apply online. Online applications go directly to the Swedish Migration Agency and are given priority.

If you cannot or do not want to apply online, you should submit a paper application at a Swedish mission abroad instead.
