To receive a decision as quickly as possible, you are advised to apply online on the internet on the website of the Swedish Migration Agency. However, you may still need to visit a Swedish Embassy or Consulate during the application process.

You should visit the Embassy or Consulate in the country where you legally reside. If there is no Swedish Embassy or Consulate in that country, or if it does not handle migration cases, contact a Swedish Embassy or Consulate in a neighbouring country as follows:

• If you have  a Turkish or other nationality and reside legally in Turkey you should submit your application at the Swedish Embassy in Ankara or Consulate General of Sweden in Istanbul.

• If you are residing in Azerbaijan you should submit your application online or at the Embassy of Sweden in Ankara. The Embassy of Sweden in Baku does not receive applications for residence permit.

•If you are a citizen of Iraq you should visit the Embassy of Sweden in Amman or Tehran.

• If you are a citizen of Syria you should visit the Embassy of Sweden in Ankara, Amman, Abu Dhabi, Cairo or Riyadh, or the Consulate General of Sweden in Istanbul.

• If you are stateless and legally resident in Syria, you can also apply to the Swedish Honorary Consulate in Beirut.

The list above also applies if you wish to submit a paper form, instead of applying online.
