Syria Crisis strategy

Sweden has adopted a five-year Syria Crisis strategy that aims to alleviate the effects of the conflict for vulnerable groups inside Syria as well as in neighbouring countries, including Jordan and Lebanon.

The initiatives encompassed by the Syria Crisis strategy are expected to contribute to:

  1. Strengthened resilience, human security and freedom from violence, with a focus on job creation, access to basic services and preventing sexual and gender-based violence.
  2. Strengthened democracy and increased respect for human rights, with a focus on supporting Syrian civil society and media organisations.

The Syria Crisis strategy will be implemented between 2016 and 2020 and will comprise a total of 200 MUSD.
