20-22 November 2012: Women's Access to Justice
The Swedish Institute Alexandria together with Oxfam GB Beirut is embarking on a joint regional programme aiming at enhancing women's access to justice in the MENA region. This will mainly be axed around bringing together, over the course of three years, women's organisations from the region to build a strong network tackling women's legal protection issues, aiming at sharing lessons learnt and success stories from different countries, and launching an advocacy campaign. The first Oxfam-Swedish Institute joint workshop will be carried out 20-22 November 2012 and will focus on networking for advocacy on increased access for women to justice.
Aim:
To facilitate networking for advocacy among women's organizations and other stakeholders engaged in women's legal protection in the MENA region
Objectives:
- Promote better understanding on legal protection for women and issues hindering women's access to justice in the MENA region
- Share experiences and learning from legal protection programmes around the region
- Enhance regional networking and campaigning on legal protection
Outputs:
Mechanism of networking agreed among the participating NGOs and other stakeholders;
Campaign work plan developed to be integrated as part of Oxfam GB regional campaign on women's access to justice.
The participants will come from Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, and Yemen in addition to stakeholders working on legal protection for women i.e. NGOs, INGOs, and UN agencies.
