Why Dialogue?

The importance of dialogue is highlighted in the Strategy for Swedish development co-operation with the Middle East and North Africa. Democratic governance and greater respect for human rights, especially the freedom of expression and women’s rights are areas given priority in the institute’s activities.

In cooperation with international organizations, civil society, government bodies and academic institutions; the institute promotes dialogue on the role of youth, inclusion of women in decision-making, religious tolerance, cultural diversity, independent media and journalism. Moreover the institute supports capacity building projects for civil society organizations working in the areas of human rights and democratization.

“The aim of our dialogue should be strengthened universal values such as tolerance and understanding, democracy and human rights”

Anna Lindh
