Visa for Visiting

The following documentation is required to be submitted to the Embassy on the day of handing in the application:

Please note that all documents are required at the same time unless other is mentioned, or the application will not be processed or it may cause delay in the process.  The Embassy staff can not assist with translation or filling out the forms. If the application is for Norway all documents should be in two copies.

 • Application for Schengen Visa, completed, signed and dated

Appendix D: Family Appendix 

• Original passport and national identity card. The validity of the passport must be at least 3 months after your last day of stay in the Schengen area.

• A copy of the first two pages of the applicant's passport and of all vaild visa as well as a copy of your national identity card.

• Two [2] photographs of passport style and size [35 x 45 mm] for all applicants, including minors. Your photograph must be:
– colour photo
– recent and of true likeness
– showing full face
– taken without headgear
– head coverings and hats are only acceptable due to religious beliefs, and even then, may not cover any portion of the applicant's face
– taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background.

Photographs that do not conform to these standards will be rejected and may cause delay in processing the application.

• Property documents if available. It may include, but are not limited to, house or car ownership and shares.

• Your personal bankstatement for the last 6 months. If you pay for the trip and upkeep you must prove that you have at least 40 Euro/day.

• A document certifying that you have been given leave from your job/studies during the period you intend to visit Sweden or Norway. If selfemployed, a trade license of buisness.

• Parental consent is required for minors.

 

The following documents should be provided by the referent and must not be more than 3 months old:

The referent must send the completed Appendix E form to the applicant together with below mentioned documents so that the applicant can enclose them with the application.

• An invitation on Appendix E: Referent's Appendix from the person you will be visiting in Sweden, which must be submitted in original. If the application is for Norway the UDI Guarantee Form for Visits should be used. 

• Passport copy of the first page. If the person you are visiting is not a citizen of Sweden or Norway, a copy of his/her passport showing what kind of permit he/she has.

• If the reference person will be responsible for the costs during the stay, proof of sufficient means needs to be shown by bank statement, salary specification or pension specification.

• The referent in Sweden must also enclose proof of his/her own identity (personbevis) with the form. This can be requisitioned from the nearest local tax office or from the website of the Swedish National Tax Board. If there is an Ethiopian citizen in the same household as the reference person, the Ethiopian person's Civic Registration (personbevis) must also be enclosed. The mentioned documents is not required for Norway.

• Taxation Certificate (slutligt skattebesked) of the person you will be visiting in Sweden. This is not required for Norway.

 

The following documents must be provided after you are granted a visa
• Confirmed return ticket or booking to and from the Schengen Area.

• A copy of your medical travel insurance vaild in the entire Schengen area, covering cost of at least 30 000 Euro for urgent medical treatment and/or hospital treatment and repatriation for medical reasons.

• In cases where the applicant has no reference in Sweden a letter from the employer has to be presented. It should be clear from the certificate that the applicant will still be employed after his/her return home. In these cases the applicant has to submit financial documentation such as extract from bank account, copy of the bank book or the like.

Your entry visa must be entered in your passport before your arrival in Sweden. A visa does not guarantee your entry into the Schengen area at arrival. Should the Schengen State's border authority refuse entry, no claim to reimbursement of the visa can be submitted. The border police at the destination may request the presentation of sufficient funds, a letter of invitation, hotel reservation and proof of medical insurance. Failure to present said finds/documents at arrival may result in entry being refused.
