The Embassy of Sweden, the Dutch Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence, the Swedish Institute and Women Peace Makers Programme organised a conference on women in conflict and post-conflict areas on December 3 2009. The aim of this conference was to come up with pragmatic and doable recommendations for next year's 10th anniversary of UN SC Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

Experts representing the governments and armed forces of Sweden and the Netherlands as well as international organisations, NGOs and women’s networks active in conflict and post-conflict areas met and discussed concrete examples and best practices, taking stock of implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325/1820.
Invitations were extended to government representatives, armed forces, NGO’s, aid organisations, international organisations and various networks engaged in these issues.
