The guiding principles and objectives of Sweden’s development cooperation with Moldova are laid down in the Country Strategy for Development Cooperation 2007-2010 and in the Operational Plan 2009-11. The objective of Swedish development cooperation with Moldova is to support the development of closer relations between Moldova and the EU and implementation of the ENP Action Plan, as a way of promoting economic development and poverty reduction. This creates possibilities for poor people to improve their conditions of life. This focus for development cooperation is entirely in line with the wishes of the Moldovan government. The main three areas supported are good and democratic governance, strengthened competitiveness in rural areas and reduced vulnerability in the field of energy. Support is to be designed in accordance with the Paris Declaration on aid effectiveness in close collaboration with other donors. To read the strategy in full, click on the link to the right.
