Emergency Passport (temporary passport)

Emergency passports can only be issued at the Embassy and the handling time is approximately one hour. Please call to make an appointment, if you need your passport urgently, otherwise you may have to wait in line. To apply for an emergency passport, please observe:
  • Bring driver's license or other valid photo ID.

  • If your passport is lost or missing, the following is required: Completed notification of loss (förlustanmälan), on the back side of the white section of the passport application form and a police report.

  • If your passport is torn or damaged your are entitled to a new passport, with the same validity as the broken one as well as an emergency passport free of charge, if you need to travel within the next couple of days.

  • JPY 20,500 (unless your ordinary passport is broken)



The Embassy is open to passport customers Monday-Friday 09.00-12.00.
