A Green Mission at the Swedish Embassy in Moscow

In connection with the start of the Swedish Presidency in the EU, on the first of July the Swedish Embassy in Moscow launched an environmental project - A Green Mission.

Questions concerning the climate and ecology are going to be high priority during Sweden’s EU presidency, i.e. for the next 6 months. Among other things the Swedish government is putting a lot of effort into the preparations for the Copenhagen Conference in December, where climate questions will be highlighted. Attendants of the conference will discuss a new climate deal, meant to replace the Kyoto Protocol.

Everyone can’t do everything, but everyone can at least do something to contribute to the climate and ecology work. Considering this fact the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow is launching the project “A Green Mission”. The Embassy is going to lower its impact on the environment, affected by its operations. A number of actions have been worked out for this purpose: a continuing transition to energy saving lighting, a more economic use of paper, a more active collection of materials for recycling.

At the entrance to the Embassy, in cooperation with IKEA, a container will be placed for collection of used batteries. We want collected batteries to be recycled correctly. In the future we plan to publish interesting articles on this page, but also links for information on climate and ecology. In the coming months we are going to give advice (see the links to your right) about how you personally can contribute to the ecology work.

It is never too late to start caring for a better ecology and environment!
