About the Embassy

The diplomatic relations between Sweden and Vietnam were established already in 1969.

The Embassy's current responsibility is to handle the phasing out of Sweden’s bilateral development cooperation with Vietnam. It will be carried out via a selective cooperation. The overall goal of both the phase-out and the selective cooperation is enhanced democratic governance, greater respect for human rights and environmentally sustainable development.

Political and Trade related issues, including Human Rights, are followed by the Embassy through contacts with the Vietnamese Government, authorities and other stakeholders.

The Embassy together with the Honorary Consulate General and the Swedish Trade Council in Ho Chi Minh City promotes two way trade between Sweden and Vietnam. Companies from both countries receives support and advice in how to do business either in Sweden or Vietnam, including how to search for relevant partners.

In the consular and migration area, the Embassy has the responsibility to assist both Swedish citizens who are living in or visiting Vietnam, and Vietnamese citizens who wish to visit Sweden.
