Schengen visa for visiting friends / relatives

The following documents are required:

  • Receipt of paid consular fee / Categories that do not have to pay a visa fee.

  • Filled in application for Schengen visa; completed in block letters, dated and signed by the applicant in two places. The application shall be in Swedish or English, not with kyrillic letters.

  • One [1] coloured photograph, size 35x45 mm, recent and of true likeness, showing full face, taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background.

  • Invitation, completely filled in and signed by the inviting party as well as all documents mentioned in the invitation. The reason for the visit shall be clearly stated. These documents should not be older than three months. If the inviting party is temporarily not residing in Sweden, a copy of the identification page in the passport has to be handled in instead of personbevis.

  • If you are working you need to submit a certificate from the current employer stating what you do, how long you have been working there, what your salary is and that you are entitled to a vacation. The certificate should contain contact information to the company, the name of the person signing as well as his/her signature. If you are a private entrepreneur you need to submit the registration certificate for your company and declared income for the company. If you are studying you need to submit a certificate from the institution where you are studying, confirming your status.

  • Proof (e.g. bank statement, travellers' cheques) of sufficient financial means for your upkeep and for the journey home. The Swedish authorities has decided that you need 40 Euro per day to support yourself during your stay in Sweden. This amount could sometimes be lower if, for instance the applicant is a young child or if you intend to stay with relatives or friends. A letter in which the host in Sweden guarantees that he/she will provide for the visitor can in some cases be a sufficient proof, provided that information about his/her income.

  • Domestic passport and copies of all 16 pages it.

  • Foreigners living in Ukraine should present a proof of registration in Ukraine and a copy of it.

  • Passport or other travel document, signed and valid for at least three months after scheduled return and copies of its identification page, previous visas and all pages with stamps. Copies of all valid passports and old passports should be enclosed. The passport must have two empty pages and be issued within the last ten years.
