Schengen visa for tourists

Tourists applying for a Schengenvisa to travel to Sweden on his/her own and not through an accredited travel agency may apply electronically and book a personal appointment at the Embassy. You can only use this if you have to pay a consular fee. Please note, that it is not yet possible for families travelling with minor children to apply electronically.

About attachments to you e-application please note:

  • Documents must be no larger than 2MB.
  • The following file formats are acceptable: pdf, doc(x), jpg, png, rtf, txt.
  • Filenames cannot contain Cyrillic characters. Documents with Cyrillic characters must be scanned.
  • Presentation of the below-mentioned documents does not automatically guarantee that a visa will be issued.
  • The Embassy may contact the applicant to request additional documents/information or to have an interview.


Supporting documents:

  • One [1] coloured photograph, size 35x45 mm, recent and of true likeness, showing full face, taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background.
  • Passport or other travel document (all valid and old passports), signed and valid for at least three months after scheduled return, issued within the last ten year period, containing at least two empty pages. Copies of all valid passports and old passports should be attached and submit originals.
  • Non Ukrainian citizens living in Ukraine should present a proof of registration in Ukraine and a copy of it. Attach a copy and submit original.
  • Domestic passport and copies of all 16 pages it. Attach a copy and show original at Embassy.


The following information can be attached electronically but has to be submitted in original to the Embassy:

  • Proof of accommodation (e.g. confirmation of advance payment for hotel, cottage or apartment etc.)
  • Prepaid roundtrip-ticket
  • Proof of finances/ Maintenance certificate showing sufficient financial means for your upkeep and for the journey home (e.g. bank certificate or travellers cheques). The Swedish authorities has decided that you need 40 Euro per day to support yourself during your stay in Sweden.
  • Official reference from your company if you are working. This reference should state what you do, how long you have been working there, what your salary is and that you are entitled to a vacation. The reference should contain contact information to the company, the name of the person signing as well as his/her signature and stamp. If you are a private entrepreneur you need to submit the registration certificate for your company and declared income for the company. If you are a student you need to submit a certificate from the institution where you are studying, confirming your status.
