The objective of the seminar is to identify the array of financial options available, particularly market instruments that are tailored to finance infrastructure projects. Learn how to compare their terms, benefits and advantages, which will ultimately enable better decision – making. The topics to be covered include (i) sources of financing such as Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and commercial Bonds (ii) mixed credits, (iii) project finance, etc.
Given the current situation of the global financial crisis which has negatively impacted traditional sources of revenue, we believe that, the seminar is a timely event given that the government will increasingly need to raise financing for key infrastructure projects from the capital markets. The target audience for the event consists of senior public sectors leaders from relevant ministries, parastatals, utilities and banks.
Sida has long experience from infrastructure finance, both on concessional and semi-commercial terms. Sida promotes alternative ways to grant financing. To be able to meet the huge investment needs, both in infrastructure and in productive sectors, Tanzania needs to explore all possible sources for finance. We hope that this seminar will contribute to a better understanding of potential financial sources, there terms and condition and that this will serve as a useful starter for further learning.
