Mme Chair,Allow me to extend the gratitude of Sweden to His Excellency Mr Manevski, Minister of Justice, and his delegation for taking an active part in our dialogue here today and for having addressed the questions that we submitted in advance. We would like to raise three issues:First; Sweden welcomes the efforts by the Government of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to combat torture and other ill-treatments. We welcome the ratification of the optional protocol to the CAT, as was mentioned in the presentation. The Committee against Torture expressed concern last year about allegations of ill-treatment and lack of effective investigations and prosecutions in that regard. For that reason, we recommend to continue and strengthen the ongoing efforts to ensure the well-being of prisoners and detainees in compliance with the Convention against Torture and other international standards.Second; Both the CEDAW and the CAT committees expressed concern last year over the persistence of trafficking of women and girls, as well as the exploitation of prostitution. We welcome the information provided this afternoon on the National strategies and the work of the National Committee. We recommend to continue and increase the efforts with a view to fully combat trafficking and prostitution. In that respect, we also recommend to continue the efforts to help the women that have been victims of trafficking.Third; We would recommend that sexual orientation and gender identity be explicitly included throughout the anti-discrimination laws and programmes in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.Thank you, Mme Chair.Allowed speaking time; 2 min
