Swedish EU Presidency

On July 1 Sweden took on the role as EU Presidency. This means that Sweden will manage the work in the EU and is responsible to put forward some of the important EU-topics. The Swedish Embassies have a special mission to inform on Sweden and the Swedish presidency ahead and during these six months. Prioritised themes during the Swedish Presidency will include: – climate, environment and energy – employment, growth and competitiveness – a safer and more open Europe – EU as a global actor and continued enlargement – Baltic Sea cooperation and relations with EU neighbours. From these priorities, the Swedish embassy in Athens together with the local Swedish trade council, the Swedish institute in Athens and Swedish promoters, have put together a program during this year.

The embassy has a developed cooperation with Greek media and keeps newspapers and TV and radio stations updated on Sweden.
