Baltic Sea Festival in Brussels

The seventh edition of the Baltic Sea Festival is held in Berwaldhallen, Stockholm in August 2009. Highlights from the Festival will be performed during five exceptional concerts in Brussels.

The Baltic Sea Festival has established itself as one of Northern Europe’s greatest artistic events. The combination of classical music, the fostering of community spirit among the countries around the Baltic Sea, and the focus on the sensitive Baltic Sea environment has evoked a widespread regional response.

“We wanted to offer great music, but also wanted to do something more. The Festival is based on three things: Classical music (for the inner well-being), the environmental issues (for the outer well-being), and the leadership (for societal direction).”
Michael Tydén, General Manager, Berwaldhallen

“ It’s great to see the Baltic Sea Festival gaining an increasingly high profile regarding its social commitment. The debate shows that it is possible to influence things, and that classical music really can be a force to be reckoned with.”
Esa-Pekka Salonen, Artistic Director of the Baltic Sea Festival
