Swedish is a North Germanic language with around 9 million speakers mainly in Sweden and Finland, and also in Estonia, Norway, Canada and the USA. It is closely related to Norwegian and Danish and is mutually intelligible with them to a large extent, particularly in its written form.

In that case the web based course Lingua 2: Swedish is a great opportunity for you to learn Swedish fast and intensively, yet with no obstacles of time or location.

The Swedish Institute offers a tutored web course for English, French, Dutch and German speaking beginners. The course gives basic spoken and written knowledge of the Swedish language, as well as an insight into Swedish culture and society. Applications can be sent directly to the Swedish Institute. Dutch speaking students however apply through universities in Gent and Groningen.
