General information

Sida has supported the establishment of a five year business plan 2007 - 2011.  The business plan addresses the actions required to accelerate the implementation of gender commitments as outlined in various regional and continental instruments and frameworks.   The business plan is considered in relation to elaborate sets of project concepts notes which have been developed for each intervention area of the business plan for purposes of financing the activities that are to be undertaken over the five year period.
The Concept Notes address the actions required to accelerate the implementation of all gender instruments and frameworks signed by the SADC Member States (MS).  The Concept Notes also elaborate on specific interventions, with detailed project descriptions and appropriate resource requirements necessary to execute the projects. A logical framework is provided that sets out the overall objective, purpose and results for each of the five thematic areas. In addition, Project Fact Sheets that provide summaries of the objectives, key activities, outputs, impact and indicative costs of each intervention form a part of the Project Concept Notes. The Project Concept Notes also provide Partners willing to support SADC gender programmes, with information about various interventional areas. These address five thematic areas as follows:
• Development and harmonisation of policies;
• Gender mainstreaming of SADC structures and institutions;
• Women’s empowerment programmes;
• Communication, networking and information sharing; and,
• Research, Monitoring and evaluation of agreed gender commitments.
