General information

SADC PF’s engendering SADC Parliaments programme seeks to provide the missing link by equipping both female and male members of parliament with the necessary gender analytical skills and information.  This would assist in empowering Parliamentarians to appreciate and articulate gender equality issues and to facilitate the review of existing laws and passage of gender sensitive laws and policies in order to accelerate the achievement of the objectives of the SADC Declaration on Gender and Development. The programme enshrines the principle of gender equality and equity for SADC region through parliamentary action.  It is designed to augment and supplement other initiatives on gender and capacity building and training at national and regional levels for policy makers and highlights the significant role of members of parliaments on women’s empowerment and gender equality.
