General information
The Embassy signed a two and a half year agreement with Justice for children trust in 2006. The agreement ended in december 2008. The main objective of JCT is to provide free legal sevices to children and/or their guardians. It has the following programmes: legal aid, sensitisation and awareness, public education and research and documentation. The main focus for Justice for children trust (JCT) in 2007 was birth registration. In partnership with TATU, an advertising company. JCT produced an animation whose main theme was the importance of a birth certificate. This animation which was produced in three languages (Shona, Ndebele and English) was used and is still being used to sensitize the nation on birth registration. In 2007 Justice for children trust formed 75 clubs in secondary schools in Harare, Chitungwiza, Chegutu and Bindura. 404 students were trained as peer educators and these the formation of the clubs. The club members were the onesresponsible for cascading the message of child protection to other children in Zimbabwe. Over 10 000 children throughout the country where reached with the birth certificate message. A total of 3 444 children were reached with direct legal assistance. 9 workshops to train organisations working with children on laws of child protection were conducted by Justice for children trust in 2007.
