General information
This project focuses on increasing the food security and economic strength of 12 000 vulnerable households in two districts of Binga and Nyaminyami, through livestock, post harvest storage and management, nutrition gardening, food preservation and tree production. It also aims to enhance the life skills and self reliance of young people through livelihood projects as well as establishing Junior Farmer Field Schools. HIV/AIDS is mainstreamed in all the activities.
To date the programme has procured and distributed sweet potato vines and cassava cuttings to 500 poor households in Nyaminyami, purchased a total of 130 goats which have been issued to 60 households, a total of 3 618 vulnerable and HIV affected households were provided with vegetable seeds at subsidized prices and 6 life skills and entrepreneurship training workshops (108 participants) were undertaken.
