Sida has supported OCHA since it established its presence in Zimbabwe in January 2006. OCHA replaced the previous function Humanitarian Support Team (HST) established within UNDP 2002. The support to the OCHA office was worthwhile in that the office managed to coordinate humanitarian activities and actors in the country and spearheaded the formation and functioning of six sectoral working groups. OCHA has played an excellent role in terms of coordinating humanitarian actors and interventions in Zimbabwe. Significant efforts were invested in improving information management and sharing both at the sector level and between the sectors.  For example, sectors such as nutrition, agriculture, water and sanitation and child protection/OVC produced atlases of ‘who is doing what where’ (3W) in 2007.  OCHA also assisted in undertaking a 3W exercise for Matebeleland and provided other mapping products as per request from humanitarian actors including Government line ministries.  Agencies provided information for monthly humanitarian situation reports, which were compiled by OCHA and shared with all stakeholders including the Government, donors, UN agencies, NGOs, churches and other interested parties.  OCHA also launched a new website as a platform for information sharing, which is available at http://ochaonline2.un.org/zimbabwe and includes content from the old Zimrelief website. Sida supported OCHA with 2 MSEK in 2007 and with the same amount in 2008.
