Besöka Sverige / Visit Sweden

Visiting Sweden on business or to attend a conference

When applying for a conference or business visa for Sweden, you must submit all of the following documents:
  • Application for Schengen Visa (form #119031), completed, signed and dated.

  • Appendix A: Questionnaire for Visa Applicants (form #210021).

  • National passport or other travel document, valid at least three months after the visa has expired.

  • 1 recent passport photo, in color, taken from the front with the face  depicted at a straight angle. Digital files and photocopies of passport  pictures will not be accepted.

  • Notarized copy of US Alien Registration Card or other valid resident  visa (type A, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, O or R). If you are a student or  researcher residing in the U.S., you must submit a completed INS form  I-20 or IAP-66.

  • Business references: company letter from your U.S. employer and a  letter of invitation from the host company, stating who will cover your  expenses. Letters must be have an official letterhead and a signature – we do not accept business references via e-mail. If you wish to apply  for a multiple entry visa, both letters must state (as detailed as  possible) the dates and length of your upcoming trips to Sweden.

  • Application fee in the form of cash or money order/certified bank check, payable to Consulate General of Sweden. If you want your passport  returned to you with next-day courier service, you must also include a shipping fee, or a pre-paid envelope.

NOTE: An entry visa does not automatically entitle the holder to enter the Schengen area.  A decision is made every time the traveller passes through a border control, as travellers must have (1) proof of sufficient funds to support themselves for the duration of their stay and their return, (2) travel medical insurance, and (3) documents indicating the purpose of their visit.
