Business visa

On this page you can find information about documents required for business people; participants of scientific, cultural and artistic events; sport competitions; journalists and professional drivers.

All applicants including children (regardless of age) should submit the full set of required documents when applying for a visa.

The Embassy will not consider visa applications, additional or completing documents sent to the Embassy by post, fax or e-mail.

Documents required:

For business people, participants of scientific, cultural, sport and artistic activities, including university and other exchange programmes:
- An official invitation from the inviting legal party containing:
  -full name and address of the inviting legal party
  -name and position of the person signing the request
  -registration number for companies based in the EU Member States.
  -name, surname, citizenship, number of the identity document, period and purpose of visit, number of entries for the invited party

For journalists:
- a certificate (the original and a copy) issued by a professional organisation to prove that he/she is a journalist.
- a document from the employer stating that the purpose of the visit is a journalistic work.

For drivers:
- a written request from the national association of carriers ASMAP stating the purpose, duration and frequency of the trips.

For members of official delegations:
- a letter from the Russian authority confirming that the applicant is a member of the official delegation (the original).
- a copy of the official invitation sent by the EU institution or EU Member State.

For conference/congress participants:
- an official invitation from the conference/congress organizers

All applicants must submit:

  • Application for a Schengen visa (English or Swedish), completed, dated and signed.
  • Applicant’s passport. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the scheduled return. Passport has to be issued within the previous 10 years (not earlier).
  • Copy of passport´s identification page
  • Documental proof of sufficient financial means (for example: bank statement, employment certificate stating your salary, copies of travellers checks or other proof of savings). The amount has to be not less that 40 EUR or 370 SEK per day. Proof of financial means not required if it’s guaranteed by referee.
  • Foreigners living in Russia must have proof of legal residence in Russia.
  • Medical insurance, valid in all Schengen states with coverage amount at least of 30 000 EUR or 35 000 USD. For multiple entry visits the insurance must cover at least the first visit.
  • Two colour photographs (35 x 45 mm), not older than 6 month taken over/against white background for all applicants, including minors.
  • Power of attorney (for applicants who can not apply personally)
  • Application fee

Co-applicants:
Co-applicants must be mentioned in the main invitation letter or have a separate one and submit the same set of documents as the main applicant.

For children below 18 who travel alone or with one of the parents (additionally):
- copy of a birth certificate of the child
- if the child is entered in the passport of his parent, a copy of the parent's passport (the identification page and the page with child’s personal particulars are required)
- copy of a written consent stamped by a notary public from both parents (one of the parents) or the legal guardian of the child
- a copy of the internal passport (the identification page) from both parents (one of the parents) or the legal guardian of the child

Attention!
The Embassy may require additional documents or request the applicant to come to the Embassy in person (for an interview).
